(1568–1625), Large Fish Market, 1603 This image was also the main poster image for the show and one of my favorite paintings to see in person with the delicate and inspired painting of the sails on the water. Jan Brueghal the elder's painting of John the Baptist with the pointillist effect of the figures to pattern and flow and another show poster of one of the paintings Jan Brueghel the elder did with the fellow Flemish master Peter Paul Rubins to collaborate on the one canvas as part of a collaboration of their studios. The Peter Paul Rubens Room at the Alte Pinakothek The artist Albrecht Dürer's self portrait at age 28, always a favorite subject of mine and I was very looking forward to this one to see in person. A view from the top of a church we where lucky enough to receive a private tour of on the day we arrived in Germany. It was an interesting beginning for the trip to see and touch many old artifacts to understand the symbolism of alter items better as so many of the next days collection of great paintings heavy with biblical stories to have the artists interpret.
