AK, "Autumn at the Academic Dutcha," 2008, 25 1/2in x 27 1/2in, oil on canvas.
A Surikov artist who studied in the studio of VN Zabelin, Kosnichev’s romantic paintings have been a client favorite since his introduction to our gallery at a 1997 charity benefit where 13 of his 15 paintings shown where sold by shows end. Thought of as one of Zabelin’s most gifted artists of his generation, Kosnichev recently studied with the famous Brothers Tkachev. Today, the artist’s paintings are receiving even further critical and collector success in Russia’s top galleries and around the world. The artist’s work is also featured in the major art book, The Great Collection, Russian Landscape. (six color plates) News & Exhibition:

QUOTE– “Art Is a Great Means”
“[Art] is going to deepen our awareness of the things that matter. It’s going to make us— to refer to what we said earlier—more a person of integrity, more true to my own essence, then I would have been without this encounter. It’s like meeting a great genius, just talking, even being in the presence of such a person. You feel enriched, enlightened; you’re more than you were before you had that encounter. Well, that’s what paintings are offering us: encounters; encounters with greatness.”
