“Most of all I am fascinated by the interplay of light and shade.”
–Edward Yashin
As a mediator between the spectator and architecture, Edward Yashin produces works that masterfully communicate the contemplation and feel of the city. Largely focused on structural design elements, Yashin’s pieces are similar in subject matter, yet markedly unique due to his extraordinary ability to present an entirely fresh perspective with each.
Born in 1960 in Smitheropol, the Crimea, Ukraine , Yashin graduated from the Crimean Art School in 1978. Continuing his education as a student of A. Martynets and V. Igumentsev, Yashin graduated from the Kharkov State Art Academy in Ukraine in 1984.
Yashin describes his work as an “escape of the house,” specifically doors, walls and windows. He enjoys presenting the often mysterious, sometimes peculiar mergers of light, darkness and the realities that each represents through the depiction of a specific architectural element.
Since 1985, Edward Yashin has participated in numerous prestigious projects including both solo and group exhibitions. James Yarosh Associates is proud to represent Mr. Yashin's art, which can be found in private collections around the world, including Germany, Italy, Greece, Ukraine, Canada and the United States.
