NJ TOWNHOUSE REIMAGINED
Created as an extension of the living and dining space, this open floor plan kitchen renovation is color-drenched in romantic shades of green featuring an intense masterful understanding of highlights and lowlights.
The client moved into this Tinton Falls, NJ townhome in a downsizing lifestyle effort but with the expanded renovation on the kitchen, they ultimately did not have to give up the luxury of their previous larger home’s cooking and entertaining space. Designer James Yarosh was deliberate in his design vision, ensuring that the kitchen took its cues as a continuation of the design identity that he had previously curated in the rest of the 2,000 sqft home.
In an impactful yet cost-conscious effort, James added trim to the top of the existing wall cabinetry in the kitchen to create a full-height upper cabinet look. The previously white cabinets were painted Benjamin Moore Scenic Drive, a gentle mint green, a must-have request from the client to “keep the kitchen happy.” A BlueStar range and refrigerator were selected for their performance and custom color capabilities in Agate Grey. Reeded glass inserts were added to the cabinetry doors above the modified paneled hood, and new bronze Rocky Mountain Hardware was added throughout the kitchen, providing decorative elements that effortlessly tied the kitchen to the rest of the home. The kitchen surround and backsplash features an impressive bookmatched Fusion Crystal Quartzite, a dramatic stone that combines fluid swaths of blue, green, and grey, interspersed with trailing veins of bright white quartz.
The island, arguably one of the most used spaces in the home, features a deep hunter-green Vermont Verde slab with a cluster of ribbed cylinder bronze Currey & Company pendants that create a conversation with the reeded glass upper cabinets on both sides of the kitchen. Chippendale bamboo counter stools from Artistic Frame demand attention while also creating a central connection to the biophilic-themed Morris & Co. Emery's Willow and DeGournay Wallpaper that surrounds the kitchen.
The Beverage Bar and Pantry feature a slightly darker green cabinetry. Cristallo Maestro stone counters and surround provide a moody translucent green crystalline appearance, adding subtle drama and mystery to the entertaining space as the smokey eye of the room.
