THE ARTISTS QUISGARD - PRESS RELEASE

James Yarosh Presents Quisgard Fine Art at Garmany
Holmdel, NJ- In a vibrant spring exhibit that boldly sparks the imagination with patterns that command the canvas, James Yarosh Associates Fine Art Gallery presents artist Liz Whitney Quisgard at Garmany, a 40,000 square foot luxury clothing store in Red Bank, NJ.

As part of an ongoing series of solo exhibitions celebrating fine art and culture, Quisgard’s captivating 'dots' create abstracted patterns of fantasy emerging from the Abstract Expressionist movement of the mid-20th Century. With each component marching in order as if animated gemstones on parade, Quisgard’s works are as spirited and engaging as a silk tie, yet as complex as any intricately woven pattern.  “We are pleased to introduce the art of Liz Whitney Quisgard to Monmouth County and open a show of this caliber as part of our Fine art at Garmany and Windows at Garmany features,” said James Yarosh, gallery owner.

Born in 1929, Quisgard has been the focus of more than 45 solo exhibitions since 1960.  Her work is internationally featured in museums and corporate collections including Johns Hopkins University, Fordham University, the Museum of Contemporary Art in New Zealand, Pfizer, Inc. and Coca-Cola.

With components that seemingly dance in unison to create mesmerizing patterns using rows of basic shapes, Quisgard’s pieces fully reflect the goal found in her artist statement to “surprise and engage the mind by seducing the eye”.   In addition, Quisgard suggests a collective familiarity found in the use of fundamental shapes.  “We all understand a row of triangles, a strip of squares, an arrangement of circles and swirls.  No need to ask their meaning.  They simply are what they are.  They speak to us universally and without apology,” she said.

Larry Garmany, owner of Garmany Red Bank, said the opportunity to view Quisgard’s pieces at Garmany represents the addition a unique facet to an aesthetic shopping experience.  “We are pleased to be working with Mr. Yarosh who curates the art for our store. Ms. Quisgard’s art created excitement within our store on day one.  We have a very sophisticated clientele,” he said.  For more information about Garmany, visit www.garmany.com.

Ms Quisgard’s work has previously adorned the windows of Tiffany, New York City in 1984 and Bergdorf Goodman in 1991.  Quisgard has received numerous awards and fellowships including the Artist Fellowship, Inc. Grant in 1999 and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2001.

Yarosh was recently featured in the January 2008 edition of Art & Antiques magazine which highlights both his interior design work and his 20-year fine art collection from the Moscow School of Russian Realism and non-conformist artists of the former Soviet Union.
